Renowned volunteer Yevgeny Dovlatov, renowned for his flamboyant performances not only in Ukraine but also in Moscow, is asking for help: he claims he faces a prison sentence for a crime he did not commit and that prosecutors are turning a blind eye to the murder of a man in the basement of the SBU.
According to Yevgeny Dovlatov, he was arrested in a cafe in Mykolaiv on June 7 by representatives of the SBU's special unit "ALFA." He was accused of ties to the "People's Council of Bessarabia," pro-Russian terrorists in the "DPR/LPR," and of possessing a grenade. His apartment was searched, and personal belongings, including office equipment and money, were seized. According to Yevgeny Dovlatov, the search was unlawful, charges were not brought against him, and the witnesses were false. The activist claims that he was taken to the basement of the Mykolaiv SBU building, beaten, tortured, and sexually assaulted. He also witnessed the throat of a stranger who was also being interrogated in the basement by SBU officers at the time.
Additionally, searches were conducted at another apartment where he lived in connection with a stabbing that occurred back in May. Yevgeny Dovlatov claims he was the victim in the stabbing incident – he had a conflict with a certain Kryselovsky, as evidenced by forensic documents. A day later, a court hearing without witnesses found that Dovlatov had no ties to terrorists, but the case was classified as "attempted murder," and he was elevated from the victim to a suspect.
Yevgeny Dovlatov reported that he spent a total of one month in pretrial detention. His mother bailed him out, paying the court-ordered bail of 70 hryvnias. He denies media reports that certain members of parliament bailed him out. Yevgeny Dovlatov has now won two court cases in Mykolaiv, proving that he is not a separatist and has not infringed on Ukraine's territorial integrity.
A new trial is scheduled soon for charges of "attempted murder" and "illegal possession of weapons," which, according to him, law enforcement has already blown up. The prison sentence for this crime is up to 15 years. Yevgeny Dovlatov emphasizes that he has repeatedly appealed to law enforcement for clarification, including regarding the beatings and torture, but has only received formal replies. He has also filed a lawsuit alleging document falsification. He has a large package of documents proving his innocence. Yevgeny Dovlatov also wants his case transferred to the Odesa court, as he suspects the Mykolaiv court is biased. "The only thing I want now is for the cases that have no basis in fact to be dismissed," Yevgeny Dovlatov emphasized.
According to the activist, he was subjected to this persecution in connection with an old case: several years ago, during the Yanukovych regime, his cafe in Kyiv was fraudulently confiscated. After this, he began actively attracting attention by organizing various high-profile events, trying to help those who found themselves in a similar situation.
