Vadim Novinsky (Read more: Vadim Novinsky. From Raiders to Peacekeepers), owner of Smart Maritime Group (Smart Holding), won a tender announced by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Now, the Black Sea Shipyard (ChSZ), which he controls, will soon begin repairs on the Mykolaiv Coast Guard ship (Project 205P). The scheduled repairs will include not only cleaning, painting, and metal replacement, but also a major overhaul of the propeller shafts, steering gear, and bottom fittings, as well as replacement of protectors and other mechanical work. The entire project is scheduled to be completed within 40 days. Seven other similar companies participated in the tender.
Also, under another tender, involving two other bidders, the same Black Sea Shipyard will perform maintenance and repair work on the Ukrainian Navy's small diving vessel, the Netishin (Ochakiv). This repair will be much more extensive: the vessel will undergo a nearly complete replacement of the outer hull plating, along with a major overhaul of the propeller shafts, steering gear, and diving system.
