According to a press release from the Amstor chain of stores, their stores were subject to a corporate raid on December 31. The following statement was published on the Amstor chain's official website:
On December 31, 2014, with the forceful support of armed formations (presumably the Dnipro-1 Battalion), representatives of Smart Holding, which is controlled by Vadim Novinsky, carried out a hostile takeover of the Amstor retail chain. Six supermarkets in Zaporizhzhia, three in Mariupol, and three in Kyiv were attacked. Beginning at approximately 3:00 PM, armed men began entering the Amstor supermarkets and forcibly seizing office space, cash collection areas, and the accounting department. Employees and customers in the sales area claim the armed men were wearing Dnipro-1 Battalion uniforms. It remains unclear why this unit, instead of working to restore peace in the Donbas, is participating in the seizure of a peaceful enterprise. The "aliens" presented documents with signatures and seals claiming to represent the company's management, which had changed the day before, and had come to conduct an inventory. The "new owners" also claimed the supermarkets' daily sales. Company employees were not notified of any management change or inventory check; the stores were operating as usual pre-holiday. Store managers and department heads were working at their desks. Due to these illegal actions, the supermarkets' operations were completely disrupted.
This version of Igor Kolomoisky and Vadym Novinsky's involvement in the corporate raid on the supermarket chain is confirmed by several media outlets. According to them, after the Vagorovsky brothers, former managers of the Amstor supermarket chain, fled Ukraine, the oligarchs want to take complete control of the chain.
Meanwhile, the publication "Voice of Zaporizhzhia," citing its own law enforcement sources, reports that Vladimir and Alexander Vagorovsky, former managers of the Amstor store chain, have fled Ukraine. Law enforcement authorities attribute their departure to the fact that during an audit of the chain, the owner uncovered numerous violations and instances of fraudulent activity by the company's management. Subsequently, the Vagorovskys were removed from their positions. Specifically, it was established that the Vagorovsky brothers, abusing their official positions and without the consent of other shareholders, transferred millions of dollars from Amstor accounts to companies founded by their relatives.
FINBALANCE reports that on December 22, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Commercial Court opened proceedings on VTB Bank's claim against Amstor LLC for the recovery of $15.4 million.
Let us recall that the Amstor chain is part of the Smart Holding financial and industrial group, owned by businessman Vadim Novinsky.

What do you mean, "decided"? Benya is by definition the biggest raider in the country, and has been for many years.
