Novinsky will not be stripped of his Ukrainian passport – the petition has been withdrawn.

NamelessThe Ukrainian Presidential Administration has deemed a petition demanding the stripping of Russian businessman and oligarch Vadim Novinsky's citizenship unconstitutional, despite nearly 20 signatures.

This was the official reason for removing the petition from the website. It was stated that, according to Article 25 of the Constitution of Ukraine, deprivation of citizenship is not provided for by law.

As is well known, Novinsky's Ukrainian passport was "gifted" by Viktor Yanukovych. The petition to revoke his citizenship began collecting signatures on October 28, 2015. However, the Presidential Administration did not immediately reject or comment on the petition. Activists believe the Russian oligarch's activities are causing losses to Ukraine, including the corporate raid on the Amstor supermarket chain, the refinancing scam involving Forum Bank, whose assets were put up for auction, and much more.

According to media reports, Novinskyi has siphoned off approximately 10 billion hryvnias from bankrupt enterprises in recent years. Significantly, in December 2015, Petro Poroshenko supported a petition to strip the citizenship of individuals involved in separatism.
