On the creation of a new anti-corruption unit within the Prosecutor General's Office. This is Granovsky's project.

BPP MP Serhiy Leshchenko stated that a special anti-corruption investigation unit is being created within the Prosecutor General's Office specifically for Kononenko. Yesterday, the Prosecutor General's Office denied this:

"Even if we assume that the Prosecutor General's Office wanted to create some kind of duplicate bodies, they would have no authority, because the Code directly assigns these powers to the NABU. Indeed, the Prosecutor General's Office is undergoing certain restructurings, creating or merging certain departments, but I can officially assure you that they in no way duplicate the functions of the NABU. Moreover, none of our departments, nor the Prosecutor General's Office in general, are political bodies, and any influence from politicians is simply out of the question," Kutsenko assured.

What's the reality? In reality, Kononenko's business partner, MP Oleksandr Granovsky, lobbied Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin to create a special unit to investigate high-stakes cases, primarily those related to economic and business activities, in order to more effectively "resolve issues." Granovsky specializes in extorting and creating "problems" for businessmen, which he then tells them to solve by going to the boss.

Granovsky, the organizer of many trials and investigations, became convinced that those GPU officers who agreed to carry out orders in political cases were incompetent and illiterate. Upholding their procedural decisions in court was extremely difficult, while appealing or overturning them was easy.

Therefore, Granovsky wants to create a division "for himself" - to select qualified employees from across the GPU and provide them with the most comfortable working conditions, including special bonuses from his personal fund.

As we understand it, the newly created structure will not be engaged in any kind of anti-corruption campaign, and certainly does not pose any competition to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. It will serve as a bludgeon to be used against disloyal offices.

Granovsky is of no less interest to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau than Kononenko, because Granovsky is the direct executor and collector of all the dirty schemes.

From the editorial board ORDAccording to our information, a high-profile arrest of a high-ranking official is expected to be carried out soon to publicize the new agency. The prosecutor who will be promoted through this case will become a manageable replacement for Viktor Shokin.
