Anatoliy Urbansky, the head of the Odesa Regional Council ( read more about him in the article "Igor Urbansky and Sons: How to Eat Deliciously in Odesa" ), has every chance of leaving his post soon. As it turns out, Anatoliy Urbansky successfully combines public service with commercial activity.
As the head and member of the Odesa Regional Council from Petro Poroshenko's Solidarity Bloc, Urbanskyi continues to manage companies that still belong to the Party of Regions members who fled the country during the Revolution of Dignity. According to some reports, he is also overseeing the assets of the fugitives Yanukovych and Kurchenko. These assets are located in the Odesa region.
As David Sakvarelidze, former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine and former Prosecutor of the Odesa Region, told a Ukrainian media outlet, Anatoliy Urbanskyi is involved in the "diamond prosecutors" case. Several witnesses testify to his involvement in the scandalous case, meaning he should be suspended from his post pending the investigation. In effect, the Lustration Law could be applied to Anatoliy Urbanskyi in full.
The head of the Odesa Regional Council is a member of a controversial and influential Odesa family. His brother, Oleksandr Urbansky, is a member of parliament in the Verkhovna Rada from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc.
The most interesting thing is that Oleksandr ran for and won a seat in the Verkhovna Rada as a member of the former Party of Regions leader Serhiy Tihipko's "Strong Ukraine" party. This information is still posted on Oleksandr Urbanskyi's official website.
But, on the very first day of work of the main legislative body of Ukraine, Oleksandr Urbansky joined the faction of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party, joining the ranks of the "Tushkas".
Their father, Igor Urbansky, was a Socialist MP of the 5th convocation and Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications during the tenures of Mykola Rudkovsky and Iosif Vinsky. From July 2005 to September 2006 (before his appointment to the Ministry of Transport), he was listed as the director of the offshore company Kaalbye Agency Services Limited. In 2008, after Somali pirates seized the vessel Faina, with its Ukrainian crew and a cargo of tanks and small arms on board, the father of the newly elected regional council chairman was suspected by the press of being the vessel's ultimate owner. However, the deputy minister himself, as well as the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), denied this information, and the matter was hushed up.
The Urbansky family isn't above providing protection for all sorts of crooks. For example, Valentin Dmitrievich Volkanov, a deputy of the Odessa Regional Council representing the BPP, is a well-known corporate raider and fraudster in Izmail. Our publication has repeatedly attempted to draw the attention of relevant authorities and the country's leadership to the lawlessness that Valentin Volkanov allows himself to commit.
- Anatoly Urbansky and Valentin Volkanov
It's no secret that Volkanov is the owner of the long-suffering Izmail Winery. Our editorial team has obtained some very interesting documents, which we hope will prompt law enforcement agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into Volkanov's "exploits."
The first document that very clearly demonstrates Volkanov's attitude towards the laws of the country and the budget of Ukraine.
As we can see, the State Property Fund rightly accuses the Izmail Winery's management of failing to submit reports and paying rent. The company's debt to the State Property Fund as of August 7, 2015, was just over 2 million hryvnias. However, including penalties, the debt has increased to 2,7 million hryvnias. As we have learned from current employees of the winery, the situation has only worsened. Rent remains unpaid, reporting is not maintained, and salaries are paid late and not in full.
The second document is even more interesting. A certain company, "Ukrainian Universal Exchange," based in Poltava, offers the management of the Izmail Winery assistance in the alienation and sale of state property. The possibility of "cooperation," or more accurately, the "division" of state property, is proposed to be discussed in person.
As we see, crooks and potential traitors to the country have once again consolidated their positions of power. As long as the likes of the Urbanskys, Volkanovs, and their ilk remain in power, we shouldn't expect any positive changes. And we're talking, by the way, about the crooks from the president's party.
