Criminal case 12014100020009033 was opened on October 17, 2014, under Article 157, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, for voter bribery in the 216th Kyiv district, where candidate Alexander Suprunenko is using a purchased network of buckwheat consumers from the time of the odious mayor Leonid Chernovetsky to bribe voters using his method.

During this election campaign, actions were taken in the Darnitsky district of the capital aimed at preventing citizens from freely exercising their electoral rights by bribery.
This is the official reason for initiating a criminal case.
Oleksandr Suprunenko, brother of Chernovetskyi's former son-in-law, Vyacheslav Suprunenko, who is on the international wanted list, was elected to the Kyiv City Council in the May elections, exploiting the weaknesses of the Ukrainian judicial system.
Following the adoption by parliament and the signing by President Poroshenko of the Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding increased liability for violating citizens' electoral rights, criminal liability for bribery of voters and participants in the expression of will has been increased.
Under this law, promising, offering, or providing a benefit to a voter for any action, as well as bribery of voters, are punishable by up to three years of imprisonment. This law will help ensure the protection of citizens' electoral rights and strengthen penalties for their violation. This law will bring Ukrainian legislation closer to that of the European Union.
