On air on Hromadske.tv, dismissed Prosecutor General's Office investigator Vitaly Opanasenko, who led the case against the so-called "diamond prosecutors," stated that high-ranking officials in the Prosecutor General's Office pressured Vladimir Shapakin not to make a plea bargain.
Opanasenko noted that a cooperation agreement with the investigation had already been drawn up. However, when the suspect was being brought into the Prosecutor General's Office building, he received threats of physical violence to prevent him from cooperating with the investigation.
Vitaly Opanasenko declined to name the officials who pressured Shapakin. The dismissed investigator noted that he and his colleagues investigating the "Diamond Prosecutors" case were also pressured by the agency's leadership.
As a reminder, Kyiv Oblast Deputy Prosecutor Oleksandr Korniets and Deputy Head of the Prosecutor General's Office Main Investigative Department Volodymyr Shapakin are accused of corruption.
