Viktor Paramonov is known for running for the Verkhovna Rada in 2012 in the controversial 194th constituency and for being a member of the Party of Regions.

The Khersonskie Vesti newspaper reports that at the BPP Solidarity party congress, it was decided to nominate the current mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Volodymyr Kovalenko. One of the participants at the presidential party congress noted that despite activists' outcry against nominating the former Party of Regions member, the regional BPP branch's leadership, Olena Ursulenko and Andriy Putilov, invited the controversial leader to the congress and supported his candidacy.

Volodymyr Kovalenko has governed Nova Kakhovka since 2006 and was elected as mayor of the city from Yushchenko's Our Ukraine party. He was re-elected from the Party of Regions in 2010. Activists accuse Kovalenko of sending thugs to Kyiv during the Maidan protests and of actively supporting the Anti-Maidan movement.
