According to the NBU press center, Olena Shcherbakova, Director of the General Department of Monetary Policy of the National Bank of Ukraine, has resigned and submitted a letter of resignation.
As a reminder, Olena Shcherbakova became head of the Monetary Policy Department in September of this year. She previously served as head of the Currency Regulation Department. She worked at the NBU for nearly 20 years.
According to sources within the National Bank, this decision is connected to the beginning of a reform of the NBU's structure. The new structure is currently being developed by Vladislav Rashkovan, Acting Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, whom Gontareva introduced as her deputy a week ago.
As previously reported, the NBU governor faces charges under Article 364 of the Criminal Code—abuse of power or official position to obtain any undue advantage for oneself or another individual or entity, and abuse of power or official position by an official contrary to the interests of the service. Gontareva plans to resign this week. According to a National Bank employee, Gontareva submitted her resignation letter two weeks ago.
