the hand rakes in the doughInvestigators from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have uncovered yet another corruption scheme: the first deputy chairman of Naftogaz of Ukraine (Serhiy Pereloma), in a criminal conspiracy with the first deputy chairman of the board of Odesa Port Plant (Mykola Shchurikov), defrauded the state of 205 million hryvnias through fraudulent sales of energy resources at inflated prices. Both suspects have been arrested and charged with abuse of office and large-scale embezzlement.

According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau prosecutor (Nazar Kholodnytsky): “Pereloma conspired with Shchurikov, the first deputy head of the board of the Odessa Port Plant… Between May and December 2015, the said individuals embezzled the said property, namely the funds of the Odessa Port Plant PJSC, by abusing their official position and by concluding contracts for the supply of natural gas at deliberately inflated prices in the amount of 205,181,833 hryvnia.”
