Despite his active anti-Russian rhetoric, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko continues to profit from Russia. In addition to Roshen Holding's Lipetsk factory, journalists have identified several entities linked to Poroshenko that either conduct business in Russia or are based in Ukraine but supply Russia, Izvestia reports.

Thus, the Dnipropetrovsk-based battery holding company ISTA is the primary supplier of batteries for Renault models produced at the AvtoVAZ plant. It was previously reported that the company is owned by Poroshenko. Journalists have found confirmation that the Ukrainian president is still a co-owner of the holding company.

Furthermore, entities close to Poroshenko sell Chinese JAC cars in Russia, assembled at the Derways plant in Cherkasy. The auto distributor "Auto Real" is part of the Ukrainian "Bogdan" group, owned by Oleh Svinarchuk and Oleh Zimin—friends and longtime business partners of Poroshenko, who have known each other since 1993 and are part of his inner circle. It is known that "Bogdan" previously belonged to Poroshenko. However, in 2013, he announced that he had sold it to Svinarchuk. However, it was reported that Poroshenko remained the owner of "Bogdan," and evidence of this can be traced back to business records. Since August 2014, Svinarchuk has also been Poroshenko's colleague in the civil service—he is the head of the Interdepartmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control Policy of Ukraine. Following this appointment, Svinarchuk changed his surname to Gladkovsky (his mother's name), and on January 15, 2015, he announced that Ukraine was planning to join NATO's arms procurement system in the near future.

It also turned out that Poroshenko's food empire includes a small but profitable Lipetsk enterprise, Krakhmaloprodukty. Krakhmaloprodukty changed hands in 2014, from a Ukrainian legal entity clearly linked to Poroshenko to a murky offshore company, while Avto Real dropped its name (previously the transparent Bogdan-Avto Rus). "State Duma Deputy Valery Rashkin will submit a parliamentary inquiry to the prosecutor's office and the tax service to investigate this type of financing of the National Guard of Ukraine," the article states.
