Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vasyl Paskal has been appointed First Deputy Head of the National Police – Chief of the Criminal Police. This was announced by the Public Lustration Committee. The organization had previously demanded Paskal's lustration.

It is reported that Vasily Paskal was re-certified as a member of the new police force and was awarded the rank of General of the Second Rank of the National Police.

Since November 2011, Pascal has been Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He later served as Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As activists from the public committee noted, Vasily Paskal held high-ranking positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs from February 2010 to February 2014, making him subject to lustration under the "Law on the Purification of Power." However, in 2014, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

Pascal is accused of persecuting Euromaidan activists, in particular Yuriy Verbitsky and Igor Lutsenko.
