Former Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Ihor Shvaika intends to run for mayor of Kharkiv in the October 25 elections.

Shvaika intends to run for the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda" and stated that a preliminary decision on his candidacy has already been made. The final decision will be made at the party congress, expected in September.

The Svoboda member himself spoke about this at a court hearing, where he was present as a suspect in the case of the riots near the Verkhovna Rada on August 31. There has been no official statement from the politician on this matter yet.

It should be noted that many representatives of Svoboda, including its leader Oleh Tyahnybok, have already been summoned for questioning in connection with the riots near the Verkhovna Rada building.
