Operatives and investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region have uncovered the criminal activity of a 46-year-old resident of Chernivtsi, who set up a workshop at home for the manufacture and modification of weapons, reports press office National police.
According to law enforcement officials, the man then sold the converted weapon in Bukovina.
"Operatives and investigators from the regional National Police Department, along with KORD special forces and police dog handlers, detained the perpetrator during the illegal sale of ammunition and a pistol with signs of being converted into a firearm.
"Police conducted a warrantless search of the detainee's home and seized two pistols and a revolver with signs of reprocessing, an assault rifle, weapon components, ammunition, a weapon for reprocessing, and other evidence of the Chernivtsi resident's illegal activity," the statement reads.



The offender is currently being held in a temporary detention facility. Investigative officers of the Main Directorate of the National Police are considering issuing a notice of suspicion against him. The suspect faces up to seven years in prison for illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.
