Volodymyr Karplyuk, head of the New Faces party, addressed Ukrainians and stated that most of the country's politicians live in the past, not the future.
Interestingly, Karplyuk's own allies include those who previously supported Viktor Yanukovych's government. One of these is Dmytro Khrystyuk, who has become the party's face on billboards. Three years ago, he boasted of his support for the Party of Regions on his Facebook page.
Khrystyuk's face can now be seen on billboards across the Kyiv region. However, they contain no promises, only a photo, the party's email address, and the slogan "New Faces—the party of the Kyiv region."
However, this isn't the only case of "new faces." Some of them began placing billboards long before the election campaign began. One example is the previously unknown party "Movement for Reforms" and its leader, Serhiy Dumchev. According to media reports, he owns Premium Bank and was number 20 on Serhiy Tihipko's "Strong Ukraine" party list in the 2014 elections. Nothing else is known about him.
Meanwhile, Dumchev's reputation has been tarnished by his ties to Tigipko, and through him, to the Party of Regions. We'll see how things unfold.
