Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is proposing that the Verkhovna Rada appoint Svitlana Kustovaya as a member of the Central Election Commission, replacing Tatyana Lukash. This is stated in draft resolutions No. 4571a and 4572a, dated September 2, published on the parliament's website.

On June 1, 2014, the seven-year terms of 12 CEC members expired (Kateryna Berezyuk, Oleh Didenko, and Oleksandr Osadchuk remain in office). The Central Election Commission consists of 15 members. The Verkhovna Rada appoints and terminates the terms of CEC members upon the recommendation of the President of Ukraine. The President's recommendation for the appointment of CEC members takes into account proposals from parliamentary factions and groups created during the current convocation of the Verkhovna Rada.

Svetlana Kustovaya is a lawyer and Poroshenko's authorized representative to the Central Election Commission for the snap presidential elections on May 25.

Tatyana Lukash is the sister of the former Minister of Justice, Elena Lukash, a member of the Party of Regions.
