At a press conference summarizing the results of 2014, Ukrainian President and corporation owner Petro Poroshenko stated that the Roshen confectionery corporation could be sold in installments to the corporation's management if no other buyers are found.
"If this isn't completed soon, I will be forced, in the absence of buyers, to sell Roshen to management on an installment plan, because there is no other option. This will be done transparently and effectively," the president said.
He noted that for the past seven months, he has been deprived of any influence over Roshen; the sale of the corporation is being organized by the investment company Rothschild in a consortium with the Ukrainian investment group Investment Capital Ukraine (ICU).
"I won't reveal any big secret that during a war, investment doesn't come into the country, no one buys anything, and it's impossible to sell anything," Poroshenko said.
As previously reported, the head of state promised to sell the Roshen corporation during the election campaign.
As a reminder, President Poroshenko's holding company includes three Ukrainian production sites located in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, and Kremenchuk. Production is also located in Klaipeda (Lithuania) and Hungary. KDV Group, a snack food producer, is also laying claim to the Roshen plant in Lipetsk.
Yesterday, it was announced that the trial against the CEO of Roshen in Russia was dismissed due to the lack of evidence of a crime. The defendant's lawyer also noted that the freeze on the company's accounts totaling 2,5 billion rubles was simultaneously lifted. The criminal case was opened approximately two years ago under Part 3 of Article 180 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal use of a trademark).
