President Petro Poroshenko approved the symbols of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine. Information about this was posted on the President's official website.
The decree states that the emblem of the new agency is a four-pointed cross with expanding rays, between which are stylized twisted-pair network cables (also known as 8P8C or RJ45). Social media immediately reacted to the emblem's "unusual" design.
"They're a bit behind the times with their cables. Wireless technology has been ubiquitous for a long time now. So a gold-plated Wi-Fi hotspot icon in the logo would look better!" writes Sergey Konnov on Facebook.
In the center of the emblem is the Sign of the Princely State of Vladimir the Great.
The Ministry's flag is blue and has an aspect ratio of 2:3. The obverse features the Ministry of Information's emblem and the Ukrainian flag.
The Ministry of Information was created last December, and was then headed by Poroshenko's close ally Yuriy Stets, who recently resigned. It has not been announced who will take over the country's information policy.
