President Petro Poroshenko dismissed controversial judge Rodion Kireyev, who sentenced and jailed Yulia Tymoshenko. The order dismissing Kireyev and three other judges was published on the President of Ukraine's website on January 18, 2015.

Earlier, the Supreme Council of Justice (HCJ) ruled that Judge Kireyev had groundlessly changed Yulia Tymoshenko's preventive measure from a travel ban to pretrial detention.

Mr. Kireyev's whereabouts are currently unknown and he is on the international wanted list. Until January 18, Kireyev was an employee of the Pechersky District Court and was receiving a salary.

In addition, President Poroshenko dismissed Elena Vasilyeva, a judge at the Chervonozavodsky District Court in Kharkiv, who held accountable participants in the rally in Kharkiv on February 19, 2014.

Vitaliy Litvinov, a judge at Kyiv's Obolonsky District Court, was dismissed from his post for unjustifiably convicting a Euromaidan activist in January 2014.

Alexey Zolotarev, a judge in the Leninsky District Court of Luhansk, was dismissed for making four illegal decisions in February 2013 and transferring ownership of pipelines to a legal entity.
