The Cypriot ambassador is working off Kolomoisky's cash injections.

Recently, several media outlets reported that the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Ukraine, Vassos Chamberlain, appealed to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Vitaliy Yarema, asking him to stop pressuring the agricultural holding company, Agrain.

As it later turned out, the information contained in the Ambassador's letter was false and contained patently non-existent facts. This was reported by the lawyers handling the Agrain criminal case, the law firm Konnov & Sozanovsky. They also demanded that Vassos Chamberlain, who is concerned about the fate of Ukrainian agriculture, retract the lies he had spread about law enforcement blocking Agrain's operations.
The ambassador's desire to "play into" the hands of individuals who are suspects in criminal proceedings involving fraud amounting to half a million hryvnias seems strange.
If it weren't for one thing, the media has learned that the man behind the scandal at Agrain is a close associate and business partner of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, Pavlo Ovcharenko.
Mr. Ovcharenko has a ton of criminal cases to his credit and, as a result, is hiding from Ukrainian investigative authorities, sometimes in France, sometimes in Estonia.
One way or another, this man is driven by none other than the largest sponsor of Cypriot offshore companies. Hence the Cypriot's loyalty to Ovcharenko and his corporate raiding tendencies.
For several years in a row, Kolomoisky's PrivatBank has been the clear leader among all Ukrainian banks in terms of the number and volume of banking transactions conducted through Cypriot offshore companies.
Therefore, the Cypriot ambassador is simply working off Kolomoisky's generous cash injections into his country, even at the expense of his own image.
