Former head of the SBU Directorate in the Kharkiv region, Roman Dudin, used his position for extortion and personal enrichment.
Currently under arrest, the former head of the SBU Directorate in the Kharkiv region, Roman Dudin, used his position for extortion, personal enrichment, and collaboration, writes NP.
Let us recall that at the end of May, President Volodymyr Zelensky fired Dudin From his position as head of the SBU Main Directorate in the Kharkiv region, with the explanation that he "had not worked to defend the city since the first days of the full-scale war, but thought only of himself." On September 11, Dudin was detained in a western region of Ukraine. On September 12, a court ordered his pretrial detention without bail.
The State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) suspect Dudin of treason and desertion. According to investigators, after February 24, 2022, Dudin intentionally obstructed regional authorities from organizing the city's defense. In essence, he acted in the interests of the Russian Federation and prepared the region for enemy capture. He deliberately sabotaged counterintelligence and counter-sabotage activities related to the defense of the region. He now faces up to 15 years in prison.
As we have learned, while still in office, Dudin sent letters to the oil refinery in Shebelinka requesting assistance for the fuel department. However, the fuel never arrived at the Main Directorate of the SBU, instead being sold through the Marshal gas station network. This scheme resulted in approximately 3000 tons of fuel, worth approximately $3 million, being sold to the black market. He also received funds from sponsors for the construction of a Main Directorate of the SBU gymnasium, but failed to pay the contractor, embezzling approximately $500. He was also involved in a scheme to steal timber, which was supposedly intended for use in building positions, but was actually sold to illegal sawmills in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions. Dudin appointed his mistresses and lovers to leadership positions, which helped to destroy the department.
In the first days of the Russian invasion, Dudin voluntarily left his post and effectively went into hiding in Volyn. According to unconfirmed reports, he may have passed on to the occupiers information about the headquarters where ammunition and weapons were stored.
"The orcs who flew into the city were knocking at the police gates. They most likely got the addresses mixed up. There's also information that one of the killed Russians had the headquarters building marked in red as a place to report to," one of the sources said.
Following his resignation, Dudin launched a powerful campaign to discredit Ukraine's military-political leadership.
