During a government meeting, Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius stated that due to complaints from business associations regarding the activities of the state agency "Ukrekoresursy," the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade plans to liquidate the agency.
The minister pointed out that Ukrekoresursy receives money from businesses for recycling containers, but in reality, this operation is not carried out. Complaints against the agency have been received from the European Business Association, the American Chamber of Commerce, and several other associations.
As a reminder, Ukrekoresursy is a business entity that organizes a system for the collection, procurement, and recycling of used containers, packaging materials, and waste as secondary raw materials. This agency reports to the Cabinet of Ministers and is the only official business entity that, at the national level, organizes a system for the collection, procurement, and recycling of waste as secondary raw materials and implements state waste management policy to create a national system of separate collection.
It was previously reported that former Minister of Economic Development and Trade Pavlo Sheremet, after leaving the government, stated that he had raised the issue of liquidating Ukrekoresursy several times. However, his initiative failed to gain support among Cabinet members. This is because two political parties received funding from Ukrekoresursy for their election campaigns. However, Sheremet did not specify which political parties these were.
