The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office has issued notices of suspicion to four individuals for the smuggling of potent medications and especially dangerous narcotics, as well as their illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, and sale, the Prosecutor General's Office press service reported.
"...a group of individuals organized a channel for the illegal trafficking of the narcotic drugs methadone and the potent medication diphenhydramine to the temporarily occupied areas of the Donetsk region through the territory of the Russian Federation. The drugs were concealed in children's goods—toys, strollers, etc.—and delivered under the guise of ordinary household parcels via minibus drivers who provide irregular transportation of passengers and goods to occupied Donetsk.
The movement of prohibited goods across the border into the Russian Federation took place at the Goptovka checkpoint in the Kharkiv region and the Melove checkpoint in the Luhansk region, and in the occupied regions of Ukraine – through uncontrolled sections of the state border," the statement said.
While documenting illegal activity, the smuggling of more than 2 kg of methadone and diphenhydramine was prevented.
