Law enforcement officers at Odessa airport seized contraband cigarettes worth UAH 3 million.

On March 18, at the Odessa International Airport, border guards blocked an attempt to smuggle foreign-made Omega cigarettes, reports UNIAN.

According to law enforcement, the cargo arrived at the Odessa airport on a flight from Dubai (UAE) as "consolidated" cargo, without the proper clearance for the movement of excisable goods.

"Based on the results of the investigation, law enforcement officers were able to discover approximately 200 boxes of cigarettes worth a total of over 3 million hryvnias.
The operation to block the smuggling of tobacco products was carried out by border guards jointly with customs and the SBU.
According to the press service of the Odessa Customs, the plane, which arrived from the United Arab Emirates, contained 100 packs of cigarettes.
"The cigarettes without excise stamps were supposed to be received by a Ukrainian foreign trade entity," the publication writes.
