According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Odesa Region, a professor at a medical university in Odesa was detained by police officers in her office while accepting a bribe. The professor demanded a financial reward for successfully passing a pediatrics exam for students. Over 4 hryvnias and 200 euros in cash were confiscated from the woman.
As part of the investigation into this case, the Ministry of Internal Affairs documented 44 instances of the teacher's illegal receipt of funds.
The case was sent to the Primorsky District Court of Odesa. The defendant fully admitted her guilt, thereby mitigating her own sentence. Taking into account the teacher's remorse, the court sentenced her to a fine of 17,000 hryvnias. She was also disqualified from holding positions in institutions, organizations, and enterprises, regardless of ownership, involving organizational, managerial, or administrative functions for one year, and a special confiscation of funds in the amount of 4,500 hryvnias was ordered for the benefit of the state.
As a reminder, on Monday, January 26, Anatoliy Kalinchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv District Administration of Odesa, was arrested for accepting a bribe. The official received funds from a citizen in exchange for a permit for the location of a retail facility. Law enforcement is currently conducting urgent investigative actions. The official is charged under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving an unlawful benefit).
