The President has lifted sanctions against the Ananyev brothers, suspected of embezzlement, ahead of schedule.

Personal sanctions against brothers Alexei and Dmitry Ananyev, who are on the international wanted list, have been lifted early, it is reported Ukrainian news with reference to the decree of the head of state Volodymyr Zelensky.

"In Appendix 1 to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated March 19, 2019..., put into effect by Decree of the President of Ukraine dated March 19, 2019, No. 82, positions 742 and 743 shall be excluded," the text of the document on the President's official website states.

Numbers 742 and 743 refer to Alexey and Dmitry Ananyev. The reasons for the lifting of the sanctions are unknown.

As the publication recalls, brothers Alexey and Dmitry Ananyev were arrested in 2019 on charges of embezzling 87 billion rubles from Promsvyazbank. The theft of an additional 15 billion rubles was later added to the charges.
