PrivatBank has begun debiting cash assistance from cards.
PrivatBank clients have begun complaining online en masse about the financial institution deducting social benefits, pensions, and other payments from their cards. After the outbreak of full-scale war, many citizens found themselves in financial difficulties. But the financial institution explained the situation, writes Technofan.
One of the clients writes that: “The bank illegally transferred more than half of the IDP aid for two months to cover the full repayment of loan interest and the mandatory payment" Consequently, the bank took the amount that the citizen received as social assistance.
PrivatBank representatives responded to this complaint. Experts explained that, according to the terms and conditions of the bank's services (clients can always review these rules on the bank's official website), the bank may debit funds from a card, as well as from other open accounts. Debits are made if the client has not made the minimum required payment by the 25th of the month. The bank has the right to withdraw any funds from the debtor's card to cover the debt. However, this does not apply to military personnel. According to a bill passed by the government on July 27, banks are prohibited from "extorting debts" from military personnel. However, it should be noted that this does not negate the existence of the debt.
In such cases, experts recommend contacting the bank to request a debt restructuring. This can help avoid large fines and situations where the bank itself writes off funds to cover the loan. It is also noted that PrivatBank is not alone in adopting this approach.
