PrivatBank filed an appeal against the $17,5 million award to Bogolyubov's ex-wife.

PrivatBank filed an appeal against the $17,5 million award to Bogolyubov's ex-wife.

PrivatBank filed a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court against the illegal decision in the case of Elena Bogolyubova and asked the heads of the Ministry of Justice and the National Bank of Ukraine to personally oversee the risk of the forced debit of $17,5 million from the bank, writes EP.

This is stated in bank message.

"On August 1, 2022, PrivatBank filed a cassation appeal with the Supreme Court against the unlawful decision of the Dnipro Court of Appeal (Judges V.S. Gorodnich, I.Yu. Tkachenko, M.Yu. Peteshenkov) to recover from PrivatBank in favor of the former spouse of partner I.V. Kolomoisky and former owner of PrivatBank G.B. Bogolyubov, O.L. Bogolyubova, funds in the amount exceeding 17,5 million US dollars.

This appellate court decision, made contrary to current legislation, not only harms the state and undermines the authority of the judiciary. During a war, amid the entire country's titanic efforts to survive economically, the arbitrary decision of judges in favor of an individual associated with the bank's former owners is, without exaggeration, an expression of extreme cynicism bordering on looting," the state bank stated.

The bank added that "in order to prevent a brazen robbery of a state-owned bank during this difficult time for the country, and given the significant public interest and inevitable public outcry," it formally appealed to Justice Minister Denis Malyusky and NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko "with a request to pay special attention to the blatant illegality and cynicism of this case."

In its appeal to the heads of the Ministry of Justice and the National Bank of Ukraine, the bank also called on them to personally oversee the enforcement of the Dnipro Court of Appeal's pending decision and "take measures aimed at preventing violations of the legal rights of PrivatBank JSCB and protecting the interests of the state."

"PrivatBank continues to fight for justice and will do everything possible to promptly overturn the unlawful decision in the Supreme Court and prevent corrupt judges from cynically enabling PrivatBank's former owners and their satellites to brazenly rob the state during a war," the financial institution added.

Recall:

The Dnipro Court of Appeal has ordered state-owned PrivatBank to pay $17,5 million to Elena Bogolyubova, the ex-wife of the bank's former shareholder, Gennady Bogolyubov.
