For the third time, the Military Prosecutor's Office has closed the criminal case related to the attack by SBU officers on Mykhailo Tkach and Kyrylo Lazarevich, journalists from the "Schemes" program. This decision was made on July 5, 2016, and is available to the journalists' lawyers.
It was reported that only four business days had passed since the case was won in the second instance court. On June 29, 2016, the Kyiv Court of Appeal ordered the Military Prosecutor's Office to reopen the criminal proceedings.
However, military prosecutor Ivan Dyachuk ruled that "the actions of the SBU officers do not constitute a criminal offense" and again closed the criminal case. This marks the third time the military prosecutor's office has closed the criminal case related to the attack on the "Schemes" journalists.
As a reminder, journalists Mykhailo Tkach and Kyrylo Lazarevich were attacked by SBU officers on October 2, 2015, while filming a segment on a program. The journalists were filming a report on expensive cars owned by SBU employees.
