The prosecutor's office has opened a case against Kyivfilm.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has opened criminal proceedings against officials of the Kyivfilm State Enterprise who purchased film equipment at inflated prices. This was reported in a press release from the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

"In early 2014, employees of a municipal enterprise purchased cinema equipment worth 3 million hryvnias from a private company. However, during a prosecutor's investigation, it was discovered that the contractual price was almost three times higher than the average market price. As a result, the capital's territorial community suffered damages amounting to 1,8 million hryvnias," the prosecutor's office reported.

The prosecutor's office has entered information about this fact into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (URDR) under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of office); the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, the prosecutor's office opened a case into the embezzlement of more than UAH 1 million in state funds by Southern Railway officials.
