The Lauffer Group press service announced the suspension of operations at Bakery Plant No. 8 in Dnipropetrovsk. Specifically, the company stated that it is currently not producing any products or transferring any related materials, including packaging, to other manufacturers. However, the company did not provide the reasons for the suspension or a timeline for its resumption.

Lauffer Holding, owned by former Party of Regions member Oleksandr Leshchinsky , is a leading producer of bakery products in Ukraine. It comprises over 35 bakeries in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa regions, as well as Crimea, as well as several trading companies engaged in wholesale and retail sales of bakery and confectionery products. Leshchinsky's company also includes flour mills in Mariupol and Donetsk, elevators and grain warehouses in central and eastern Ukraine, and several factories producing mayonnaise, pasta, canned goods, and other products.

In the fall of 2014, the authorities nationalized all of Leshchinsky's factories in Crimea, citing "the company's financial drain" and insufficient tax revenues. Furthermore, the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Crimean Council of Ministers believes that Leshchinsky's Krymkhleb may be involved in financing the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas.

As a reminder, Leshchinsky served as a People's Deputy of the 3rd through 6th convocations and was a member of the Party of Regions faction. Rinat Akhmetov and Oleksandr Leshchinsky were recognized as the most notorious absentees from parliamentary sessions during the 6th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, from November 2007 to July 2012. Media outlets call Leshchinsky Ukraine's most reclusive businessman. He has given virtually no interviews.
