The former Party of Regions is trying to take control of Ukrburshtin, a subsidiary of the state-owned joint-stock company Polymetal. Prodivus and the brother of Yushchenko's ex-son-in-law. The website "Nashi Groshi" reports that companies in the orbit of Prodivus and Yushchenko's relative, Gaz-Volyn LLC and UMB Finance LLC, are attempting to establish control over the Ukrburshtin enterprise.
It is known that Ukrburshtyn has been in bankruptcy since 2003. In 2005, the company entered into receivership. On February 9 of this year, Ukrburshtyn's creditors' board met. Journalists were not allowed to attend. At the meeting, the companies Gaz-Volyn and UMB Finance, which hold 50,3% of the state-owned enterprise's debt, decided to exclude five other creditors from the board, including the State Fiscal Service, the Rivne Regional Employment Center, and others. Thus, the removal of other creditors from the board gives Gaz-Volyn and UMB Finance the opportunity to manage the receivership in their own interests.
The founders of Rivne-based Gaz-Volyn LLC are Natalia Martynyuk, Gulbrand Ventures E.S.Y. (Seychelles) and Lafora Limited (Cyprus), and Rivne businessman Yuriy Mirkov, recently convicted of manslaughter. Mirkov's cousin is businessman Oleksiy Khakhlov, former son-in-law of President Viktor Yushchenko, who recently became head of the Rivne Regional Football Federation.
The head of UMB Finance LLC is Oleksiy Kozlovsky, and its founder is Stroitelnoye Upravlenie Mehanizatsii LLC, founded by Dmytro Godovanyuk and Sergey Volovik. Kozlovsky is deputy chairman of the board of Volodymyr Prodivus's Mostobud OJSC. Godovanyuk, in turn, heads Mostobud's Mechanization Department, and Volovik headed Mostobud's subsidiary, Kyivmostobud LLC, from 2005 to 2011. UMB Finance's Kyiv registration matches Kyivmostobud's address.
As a reminder, the state-owned enterprise Ukrburshtin is attractive to businesses because it holds permits to explore amber deposits in Ukraine, which are extremely difficult to obtain. In 2014, Prodivus actively participated in armed conflicts related to illegal amber mining in the Rivne region. Media reports also indicate that Prodivus and the brother of Yushchenko's former son-in-law, Oleksiy Khakhlev, are on friendly terms.
