A source told Korrespondent.net that charitable voluntary contributions for all patients at Maternity Hospital No. 3 have doubled. This information was confirmed by Sergei Baksheev, a physician at the facility.
The "charity fund" rates at the maternity hospital range from 1000 to 3000 hryvnias. For example, a normal vaginal birth, assuming no complications, costs 1500 hryvnias for women living in the district. If you live in another district of Kyiv, you'll be charged 2000 hryvnias. A premium room for the entire stay until discharge costs 1000 hryvnias. A Caesarean section at the facility costs 2500 hryvnias. If the woman in labor wishes to have a doctor of her choice present during the birth, the cost increases by another 1 hryvnias. For women in other districts, maternity hospital services are more expensive – around 3 hryvnias. As a reminder, Maternity Hospital No. 3 is located in the Svyatoshinsky district of Kyiv.
The fee at Maternity Hospital No. 2 is approximately the same – 1000 hryvnias (for residents of other districts, it's 1500 hryvnias), the same source told Korrespondent.net. Having a doctor of the patient's choice present at the birth will cost $1. However, if the birth is carried out with the help of an on-duty team, it will cost 2-3 hryvnias. Incidentally, residents of the ATO zone are exempt from paying all fees at this maternity hospital without any IDP certificates. "All this isn't even a fee for the birth, but rather a kind of donation to the hospital, officially, to the hospital's cash register," the source noted.
Minor gynecological surgeries cost 600 hryvnias. More serious ones cost 2500-3000 hryvnias. Hospitalization and treatment in the pregnancy pathology department for residents of the district cost 600 hryvnias. Social media users report similar rates at other Kyiv maternity hospitals. For example, at Maternity Hospital No. 7, "the charitable donation is 1000 hryvnias, and upon discharge, women in labor are asked to pay 500 hryvnias as a 'thank you,'" wrote Oleksandra Skazka.
At Maternity Hospital No. 6, prices range from 4000 UAH to 600 USD, subject to agreement with the doctors. However, one young mother who gave birth at this hospital a month ago reported that no one demanded any money from her. She stayed in a free ward and found the conditions there quite tolerable. "It's true that the staff wants money, but it's still the patient's choice," the woman noted.
