The Prosecutor General's Office press service reports that yesterday, officers from the Main Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, together with their colleagues from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), exposed the criminal activity of the heads of the regional State Fiscal Service (SFS), one of the regions in the western region, who extorted and received 400 hryvnias in illegal benefits.
Specifically, it was established that the deputy head of the Main Directorate, in collusion with the head of the Tax Audit Department, demanded and received an improper benefit of 400,000 hryvnias. They received these funds for failing to reflect identified tax violations in an audit report for one of the LLCs, resulting in a tax shortfall of 3,500,000 hryvnias.
The above-mentioned officials have been detained. A pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Acceptance of a bribe on an especially large scale or by an official occupying a particularly responsible position. The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, and confiscation of property.
