Serhiy Kostyuk, the head of Ukrgazvydobuvannya, and his deputy are suspected of abuse of office. Their "activities" resulted in the state losing nearly 17 million hryvnias. According to the press service of the Kyiv prosecutor's office, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv authorized the arrest and appearance in court for the selection of a pretrial detention measure for the chairman of the board of PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannya and his deputy.
As has become known, in March 2014, PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannya entered into a contract with a company that owned a large network of gas stations for the supply of liquefied gas. As a result of additional agreements, this company received an additional 18,000 tons of fuel without upfront payment and at a reduced price. The price of UAH 7602 per ton was almost UAH 700 lower than the market price at auctions during the corresponding period. A total of six addenda to the liquefied gas purchase and sale agreement were signed, totaling almost 30,000 tons and a total value of over UAH 200 million.
As reported by INSIDER, Kostyuk's deputy, Vadim Shlenchak, is also involved in this case. The company that profited from the state is MP Igor Yeremeyev's firm, VOG Trading.
Ukrgazvydobuvannya is one of the largest gas production companies in Ukraine. 100% of Ukrgazvydobuvannya's shares are owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy. MP Yeremeyev's company, WOG Retail, operates approximately 460 WOG gas stations throughout Ukraine.
The criminal case is being investigated by the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the proceedings. According to Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code, if found guilty, the Ukrgazvydobuvannya executives face eight years in prison.
