The EMEDS field hospital, donated by the United States to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, is being maintained behind the front lines at the base of the 95th Brigade. This was reported by former advisor to the Minister of Defense and volunteer Bohdan Kovalev.
Kovalev noted that this field hospital, which could provide emergency care to wounded soldiers, was supposed to be located 20 km from the front lines. However, the Ministry of Defense leadership decided to locate it 80 km from the front lines and is using it "for show" and as a medical station for the 95th Brigade.
The volunteer noted that "the Americans wanted to help and donated an EMEDS field hospital. It has four wards and one surgical room capable of performing surgeries. The cost of such a field hospital is over $8 million. Furthermore, the American donation is equipped with powerful generators, ultrasound equipment, a CT scanner, and a host of other modern devices for examining wounded soldiers," Kovalev noted.
"Since late September 2015, the hospital has remained 'behind seven fences,' 80 kilometers from the line of contact. They treat colds and boils there. I advised the Chief of the General Staff to move the hospital closer to the front lines, but they told me, 'Who are you and why are you meddling where it doesn't belong?'" Kovalev emphasized.
After this conversation with the Defense Ministry leadership, Kovalev's advisory status was revoked. According to the volunteer, the American hospital is simply there for show, not to help the ordinary guys dying on the front lines.
