A privatization expert commits suicide before a major takeover

Having recovered from the initial shock that the news of Valentina Semenyuk’s death caused me, I come to the following conclusions.

First of all, as someone who knew Valentina Petrovna well for many years, I am absolutely certain that this was not suicide, as the police initially reported. Semenyuk was a vibrant person with her own strengths and weaknesses, but a tendency toward depression, prolonged sadness, and the like were certainly not among them. On the contrary, she was always super-energetic, cheerful, and full of plans.

So, if this is a “suicide”, then it is only in the category of “suicides” of Yuri Kravchenko (who, as is well known, shot himself in the head twice) and Georgy Kirpa.

Moreover, Valentina Semenyuk, who headed the State Property Fund from 2005 to 2008, knew a lot about many of the current government's leaders. She even had serious conflicts with some of the oligarchs who now practically openly rule the country. As a socialist, Semenyuk was against privatization, while these gentlemen were very much in favor.

Now these "patriotic oligarchs" have every chance of bringing the latest large-scale division of the remaining state property to its logical conclusion. And in such a serious matter, especially before the start of the election campaign, people who can reveal the full details of this carve-up may indeed suddenly want to shoot themselves with a very handy hunting rifle.

And for some reason, it seems to me that our – now, as we know, a very professional, European and independent law enforcement system, having carefully considered all the versions, will definitely come to one that will not interfere with the noble process of division.
