The SBU has opened a criminal case against the NBU fund.

SBUThe Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has opened a criminal investigation into the NBU's non-state pension fund. According to law enforcement, officials embezzled approximately 600 million hryvnias. This was reported on the SBU's official Facebook page.

The report states that the fund's management devised an illegal scheme to embezzle the institution's funds by transferring over 600 million hryvnias to the accounts of commercial entities. The funds were used to purchase securities from issuers that bore all the hallmarks of fictitiousness. It was established that between 2013 and 2014, pension fund employees purchased bonds of Ecovyte LLC on the Perspektiva stock exchange for a total of over 77 million hryvnias.

The SBU reports that the fund's members were fully aware of the illiquidity of these securities, as they personally controlled Ecovite's activities. The proceeds were subsequently laundered through a number of fictitious private enterprises controlled by the fraudsters.

It is known that as a result of illegal actions, approximately 10 thousand NBU employees – participants in the non-state pension program – suffered losses.
