The SBU is investigating millions of rubles in abuses at Tabachnyk's ministry.

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, is investigating a case of abuse of office by the former Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Dmytro Tabachnyk (Read more about it in the article Dmitry and Mikhail Tabachnik. Tabachnyk's actions led to the misappropriation of approximately UAH 2,76 million in budget funds by the management of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Innovative Technologies and Educational Content" and the State Specialized Publishing House "Obrazovanie," the SBU press center reports. Specifically, based on materials from the economic counterintelligence of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, a criminal case was opened on June 19, 2014, under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for abuse of office by former Minister Tabachnyk, whose actions led to the misappropriation of approximately UAH 2,76 million in budget funds by the management of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Innovative Technologies and Educational Content" and the State Specialized Publishing House "Obrazovanie" during the production of textbooks commissioned by the state.

The materials have been submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office, and the pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Furthermore, "the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region initiated criminal proceedings on September 17, 2014, under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, regarding the misappropriation and embezzlement of UAH 24,4 million in budget funds by former First Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Science and Information, B. Grinev, and General Director of the State Enterprise "DNC "Fonon" and OJSC Scientific and Production Corporation "Nauka," S. Larkin. Their illegal actions during the implementation of the State Target Scientific and Technical Program "Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials" for 2010-2014 caused economic damage to the state and led to a slowdown in scientific development."
