Security Service of Ukraine officers have uncovered an illegal scheme to appropriate 5 hectares of state agricultural land, reports press office power department.
The alienation procedure was "accompanied" by officials from the State Geocadastre, who acted on orders from the management of a large agricultural holding.
It was established that the top management of the agricultural holding involved a number of commercial entities in the transaction.
"The dealers illegally obtained the passport information of socially vulnerable and low-income citizens who had not exercised their right to free land privatization. Then, using their connections with officials at the State Geocadastre, they prepared documents to transfer the land to private ownership.
After registering the ownership, the organizers, through notaries under their control, carried out purchase and sale transactions without the participation of the actual landowners. Thus, the land plots were transferred to the ownership of commercial firms affiliated with one of the region's largest agricultural holdings," the report states.
The pre-trial investigation documented that criminals seized approximately 5,000 hectares of agricultural land in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions from state ownership. According to preliminary expert estimates, the damage caused to the state amounts to almost 80,000,000 hryvnias.
