The SBU has uncovered a multi-million dollar corruption scheme at the Kyivstroyrekonstruktsiya public utility.

Security Service of Ukraine officers have documented a corruption scheme organized at the Kyivstroyrekonstruktsiya municipal enterprise, reports press office power department.

"Security service operatives established that one of the company's officials had entered into a contract with businessmen to carry out landslide prevention work in the Pechersky district of the capital. It was established that the contractor received the agreed-upon sum, but did not perform any work or purchase any equipment. However, certificates of completion documented the full fulfillment of the agreement. The money was embezzled by the organizers of the deal.

Investigative actions have now been conducted at the residence and workplace of the suspects. Documentation has been seized and added to the case file. The perpetrator has been charged under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, specifically with appropriation of another's property through abuse of office, committed on an especially large scale," the statement reads.

The organizers are suspected of causing damage to the budget in excess of UAH 4,800,000.

It was previously reported that The State Bureau of Investigation has completed its investigation into a customs officer who took bribes at the Kyiv Customs Office.
