The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered a channel for the illegal distribution of explosives, reports press office power department.
A resident of Oleksandria, Kirovohrad Oblast, supplied his "clients" with up to 10 kg of gunpowder per day. According to preliminary reports, the businessman raked in millions of hryvnias in profits from this illegal business.
The dealer sold wholesale quantities of foreign-made gunpowder to various regions of the country. He used specialized online platforms to find clients and sent the goods to customers via postal services. The criminal received the proceeds from the sale of the explosives on his bank card.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers discovered the following on the suspect:
- more than 100 kg of foreign explosives;
- rocket-propelled grenade
- several units of firearms, including a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a Shpagin submachine gun and a TT pistol;
- “Almost 2 rounds of ammunition of various calibers,” the report says.
Information about the use of this gunpowder for the clandestine production of ammunition is being verified.
