The SBU has issued a notice of suspicion to one of the former heads of the Odessa seaport.

Investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine have notified one of the former heads of the state-owned enterprise "Odesa Sea Trade Port" of suspicion, reports press office power department.

The official is suspected of involvement in causing the state losses amounting to 142 million hryvnias.

Law enforcement officials discovered that between 2018 and 2019, one of the former heads of a state-owned enterprise leased tugboats from the state port fleet to commercial entities at significantly reduced rates.

"Security service operatives established that, due to the official's actions, commercial entities were receiving excess profits from ship owners, which should have gone to the budget.

The pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 367 (official negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is ongoing," the statement reads.
