SBU officers have blocked an illegal channel for the supply of disassembled firearms to Ukraine, reports press office power department.
The operation was carried out jointly with law enforcement agencies of the United States and the Republic of Poland, as well as the Europol National Contact Point.
"As part of the criminal investigation, intelligence officers established that several residents of the capital and Kyiv region had organized an illegal business. An accomplice from the United States was transporting the parts through Poland. He was sending the parts via international express mail services, evading customs control.
Security Service of Ukraine officers detained one of the organizers upon receiving the package, in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The operation was conducted in a town in the Kyiv region.
During seven searches at the residences of the group members, law enforcement officers seized:
- TT pistol and 4 magazines for it;
- a "Sauer" pistol and a magazine for it;
- TM "Glock 19" pistol and 2 bolt carriers for it;
- two lower parts of the pistol TM "Glock 19";
- more than 150 cartridges of various calibers;
- more than $30,000;
- spare parts and accessories for short-barreled firearms;
- a significant number of payment bank cards,” the report says.
Investigators have now informed the detainee that he is suspected of committing a crime. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
