SBU officers detained Odesa City Council member and parliamentary candidate Vyacheslav Kruk on Monday, September 29. Kruk himself reported this to the E-95 Highway news agency.
"Armed men burst into my house, detained me, and took me to the regional SBU, where I'm currently located. I believe this was a politically motivated attack, given that I'm running for the Verkhovna Rada in the 133rd constituency—the Kyivsky district of Odesa. It's easy to guess whose political motive it is if you look at the list of candidates," he said.
He noted that law enforcement officers had no right to detain him.
"Every law, imaginable and unimaginable, has been violated because I am a candidate for parliament, and therefore certain provisions of the law apply that prohibit searches or similar activities. And, accordingly, the house I was in is the home of a Ukrainian parliamentarian, which, according to Article 19 "On the Status of a People's Deputy," is inviolable property. Therefore, all of this taken together constitutes a cascade of unbelievable violations. This is clearly a politically motivated order, and we know the reasons for it," V. Kruk emphasized.
In addition, a search is currently underway at the home of V. Kruk's father, MP Yuriy Kruk, on Bolshoy Fontan.
