TNK-Industries Ukraine responded to Glavkom's publication regarding the progress of a criminal investigation into the illegal sale of transit petroleum products in Ukraine.

As Glavkom reported, law enforcement and fiscal authorities have established that Lukoil and TNK were among the key clients of the notorious businessman Sergei Kurchenko, who is associated with the Family and is suspected of selling transit oil products within Ukraine.

The criminal case materials cited several figures, particularly concerning the cooperation between Kurchenko's entities and the Russian group TNK. Thus, between 2013 and early 2014, a group including TNK-Industries Ukraine, Vostok LLC, and TNK-BP Commerce LLC transferred at least 120 million hryvnias to the accounts of GazUkraine-2020 for the purchase of re-export oil. Citing Ukrzaliznytsia statistics, the prosecutor's office established that uncleared petroleum products for TNK were delivered to the railway station in Vasylkiv. At the local oil depot, Vostok and TNK-BP Commerce received them for subsequent delivery to their gas stations in the Kyiv region.

In turn, TNK-Industries Ukraine commented that in 2012-2013, the Ukrainian petroleum products market, with the assistance of the then-current government, was effectively monopolized by companies that were part of the VETEK group under the management of Sergei Kurchenko.

"Ukraine's own production of petroleum products is insufficient, so a significant portion of petroleum products is imported. Using administrative leverage, a situation was artificially created in which only VETEK Group companies could freely import petroleum products into Ukraine, while virtually all other market players were forced to purchase from these companies," the oil trader's response reads.

Below is the company's full response:

"It is known from open sources that companies in the GazUkraine group supplied petroleum products worth approximately 35 billion hryvnias to the Ukrainian domestic market in 2012-2013. During this period, TNK-Industries Ukraine LLC entered into transactions with GazUkraine-2020 LLC worth 125,78 million hryvnias, which represents only 0,3% of the total volume of petroleum products sold by GazUkraine during this period.

In 2013, TNK-Industries Ukraine purchased 10,090 tons of gasoline (grade A-95) from GazUkraine-2020 LLC. Our company paid all due taxes and fees totaling UAH 20,96 million. No violations were found during 14 audits by tax authorities at various levels, from district to central, further confirming the company's integrity as a taxpayer.

TNK-Industries Ukraine purchased petroleum products from GazUkraine-2020, which were duly cleared by customs authorities. Tax authorities confirmed the legality of the transaction. TNK-Industries Ukraine LLC has all primary accounting documents, including tax invoices, which were registered in the unified register. During this period, the tax authorities had no claims against TNK-Industries Ukraine.
