Former President Viktor Yanukovych was charged with only two criminal offenses, his lawyer, Vitaliy Serdyuk, stated.
The matter concerns suspicions in the Ukrtelecom case and in the Maidan dispersal case. According to Serdyuk, no other charges have been filed—neither in the Mezhyhirya case nor under the "dictatorial laws." However, the lawyer called the Ukrtelecom case "artificial," since Yanukovych is not currently on Interpol's wanted list.
The lawyer also provided Yanukovych's actual address in Rostov and invited the investigator to come to that address. According to Saerdyuk, the former president fears for his life and is therefore not traveling to Ukraine, but is willing to testify in Russia.
As a reminder, Yanukovych had previously failed to appear in response to a summons from the prosecutor's office, citing fears of assassination, as his defense stated. The Prosecutor General's Office, for its part, stated that it would guarantee the former president's safety.
