Serhiy Arbuzov, an associate of Viktor Yanukovych and Mykola Azarov, intends to sue the Prosecutor General's Office. The former prime minister wrote this on his Facebook page.
Arbuzov announced that his representatives have filed a lawsuit in the Pechersky District Court of Moscow. In the lawsuit, Arbuzov demands that the information disseminated by the Prosecutor General's Office regarding criminal proceedings against him be declared false.
Arbuzov also wrote that an official complaint was filed with the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the former Prosecutor General. Oleg Makhnitsky about his criminal offenses. According to Arbuzov, it was Makhnitsky who filed a report with the EU ambassador that criminal proceedings had been initiated against the former prime minister for embezzlement of state budget funds.
Arbuzov noted that it was this message to the European Union that led to the imposition of sanctions against him; however, as Yanukovych's ally asserts, at the time the letter was written, no criminal proceedings were pending against him.
It was previously reported that Sergei Arbuzov's funds were seized in Europe: 13 million Swiss francs in Switzerland, 451 thousand euros in Austria, and 675 thousand euros in the UK.
