The murder of journalist and executive director of Ukrainska Pravda, Pavel Sheremet, in Kyiv might not have received such attention if not for his connection, and not just professional, with the owner of that very same Ukrainska Pravda, Olena Prytula, in whose car he was blown up, nahnews.org reports.
Judging by the circumstances of the murder, the car exploded not when it started, but after driving some distance. The killer first verified that Sheremet, and not someone else, was driving, and only then detonated the bomb. Currently, there is no reason to believe that Prytula ordered Pavel Sheremet's murder or was in any way involved in it.
However, her entire biography, along with some individual facts, suggest that being in the circle, especially the intimate one, of the owner of Ukrainska Pravda can be deadly dangerous. The phrase "the second one is in an awkward position" became an internet meme yesterday.
The facts show that being in the circle of the owner of "Ukrainska Pravda" can be mortally dangerous.
Olena Prytula's first husband, now a Radio Liberty correspondent, Volodymyr Prytula, introduced her to the magical world of "free money" in the form of American grants. She met him while studying at the Odessa Polytechnic Institute. After moving to Crimea in 1991, Volodymyr recruited his wife first to the UNIAR news agency and then to Reuters, launching her career.
Olena Prytula proved to be a very ambitious woman, dissatisfied with the petty plundering of grants within Crimea, and in 1995 she set off to conquer Kyiv. Volodymyr Prytula remained on the peninsula, where he continued to successfully siphon off grants from Soros and others, until the 2014 referendum. You can read about his eccentricities in Crimea, which yielded a tidy profit, in an earlier article. Looking back, it's possible that parting with Olena may have saved his life.

The world of "free" money in the form of American grants was opened to Alena Prytula by her first husband, now a correspondent for Radio Liberty, Vladimir Prytula.
In Kyiv, Alena boldly "took the bull by the horns" – an internship in 1996 with the help of grantors at Duke University (USA), an affair with Litvin ( read more about him in the article Vladimir Litvin: Does Ukraine Need a Professional Judas? ) and, as a result, a job in the press service of the presidential administration of Kuchma and numerous titles, honors, and awards.
By 1999, Prytula had reached the necessary weight and condition for her American masters to use her as a "torpedo." Although, it would be more accurate to say that Prytula became the "submarine" from which the "torpedo" was launched—the decapitated corpse of her new lover, the previously unknown journalist Georgy Gongadze.
Gongadze, with some help from Prytula, was carefully groomed for his role as the "sacred victim." First, in December 1999, there was a joint trip to the United States with Gongadze and Prytula to meet their handlers. This trip, apparently, became Gongadze's death sentence, something he had no idea about. In April 2000, the online publication "Ukrainian Truth" was founded, with Gongadze as editor-in-chief and Prytula as his deputy. And in September 2000, Gongadze disappeared, only to reappear headless in the Tarashcha Forest, becoming the first sacrificial victim of the "Prytula school," on whose bones the Maidan of 2004 ultimately took place.

Perhaps it's worth taking a brief historical detour to understand the "notoriety" of journalist Georgy Gongadze at the time of his disappearance. Before Gongadze's disappearance, the average daily traffic of the website "Ukrainska Pravda" was 400 (!) people, and it rapidly reached a million only after his disappearance. It wasn't until 2005 that "UP" became self-sufficient. Given Prytula's open collaboration with USAID, it makes no sense to ask how the unprofitable website was financed.
There's another amusing detail in this story that reveals Prytula's moral character. People who knew Gongadze personally claim that the entire concept and, most difficultly, the implementation of the initial phase of "UP" belonged solely to Georgiy Gongadze. However, in 2001, after a strange somersault involving changes to the registration documents, Olena Prytula became the sole owner, and therefore the beneficiary. To this day, Georgiy Gongadze's family hasn't received a penny from the now-profitable publication.
Prytula is a very pragmatic person, and she clearly distinguishes between the "flies and cutlets"—temporary lovers and the tasks assigned by her masters, the fulfillment of which determines her existence. You'd agree that not everyone is capable of stealing Gongadze's rotted hand and storing it in the refrigerator. You can find new owners for a car and a lover, but it's unlikely that such generous masters will be found. Moreover, the masters aren't so foolish as to directly frame Prytula. After all, the obvious connection between Prytula and the UP and the Gongadze murder and between Prytula and the UP and the Sheremet murder can't be pinned on the case.

Pavel Sheremet, a grant-eater wandering the post-Soviet space and a well-worn "professional fighter against the Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian regimes," has become the latest "sacred victim" of Alena Prytula's school. The purpose of his murder may soon become clear from the events unfolding in Ukraine.
If this murder doesn't generate the expected publicity for those who ordered it, Prytula has a whole galaxy of grant-eating journalists, nurtured by UP, ready for the next sacrifice. For example, Mustafa Nayem or Sergei Leshchenko, whose assassination would have a far greater impact.
And what is happening in Ukraine gives every reason to believe that the tradition of sacred sacrifices, established with the murder of Gongadze and continued in the form of the "Heavenly Hundred," has become a simple and effective way to destabilize society and will continue as long as all sorts of "pritulla" (a type of "pritulla"), supported by the United States, manipulate the consciousness of Ukrainians.
